58 Alden Lane Nursery – Driving Miss Viola

I purchased all 3 matching pots which now sit briefly on the lamp put up subsequent to my She Shed (see put up #49)…

Three blue pots, two with plants.

…which by the best way is STILL not painted regardless that I wait—oh so patiently—for that man (you recognize who you’re) to get it accomplished. However apparently it’s “too windy” each single day he’s house from work. Mmm-hmm. And I do know an ideal place to place a climate vane.

I purchased that Ginkgo biloba ‘Mariken’ within the high pot at Alden’s too. It’s a dwarf considerably weepy tree that in 10 years may attain 2-feet excessive and 2-feet large. At full maturity (if I’m fortunate) it could be a pleasant 3 by 8.

At checkout, a stunning older worker mentioned how fortunate I’m to have chosen this specific Ginkgo. It is extremely uncommon and is thought to have been cultivated from a witches’ broom discovered rising on a species tree in Holland. Simply superb!

And that, My Readers, is why I journey. To seek out the distinctive and the uncommon. I’ve a watch if not all the time the pockets for it, and I’m rattling pleased with that. Even once I can’t afford the uncommon, I nonetheless love to go looking and uncover it.

The pot in entrance (above) is housing the Casuarina glauca ‘Cousin It’ (Prostrate Swamp Oak) I purchased at Robby’s till I can discover the proper pot for it.

I’ve talked about how uncommon this plant is, however some time again whereas waltzing by means of Summerwinds in Cupertino, I turned a nook and there it was! I discover it in a chain backyard retailer?? Right here’s proof…
